The Difference

I noticed this last night...

It's a good thing we don't marry someone who is exactly like us. Otherwise, who would help me straighten out my tube of toothpaste to get the last bit when I've made a crumpled mess of it? It's not that I originally set out to be a squeeze-the-tube-from-the-middle kind of person, I just don't want to take the time to roll it from the bottom.

This was one of our first discoveries as newlyweds. And, evidently, I don't keep the cap completely clean when putting toothpaste on my toothbrush. Nate does. He likes it clean.

We now have separate tubes. It works nicely. And I floss more often, because it sits right there.

If we just get frustrated with the differences we see in our spouse and think of them as annoying, we can miss how complimentary to us those differences can be. Because he lets me squeeze from the middle, and then straightens out the tube for me and gets the last little bit out when it's almost gone.  =^)

As much as we have in common, I must tell you that my toothpaste looks a lot more like Nate's than yours ;). Jay and I have separate tubes also....his looks a lot more like yours! Isn't it beautiful to be with someone who is a good balance for you?
